Gothic Princess Corset

Gothic Princess Corset Karolina Laskowska

2017

Hand painted fine herringbone coutil, silk tulle, French leavers lace, Swarovski crystal, labradorite, Czech glass.

An overbust multi-panelled corset with exaggerated shoulder straps. The base is a fine grey herringbone coutil that has been hand painted in oil-slick tones. The fastening is a late Victorian inspired spoon busk. The corset is boned on each seam with a 5mm spiral steel, with plastic boning at the shoulders to maintain the shape.

The embellishment is profuse, with layers of different tones and patterns of French lace, intricately hand stitched. Shredded silk tulle and metallic leavers laces are layered on the hips. Swarovski crystals, labradorite chips and Czech glass spikes are scattered throughout the body of the corset.

Over 70 hours of labour went into creating this garment. You can read more about its creation process here.
